10 a.m. Registration, Activities, Tours

11:30 a.m.  Camp-Style Worship

12:00 p.m. Barbeque Lunch ($10 adult, $7 child 4-12, $32 family max) and Apple Dessert Contest

1:00 p.m. Quilt Auction and Raffle

2:00 p.m. Pool Party

 

Quilt Auction, Raffle, and Apple Dessert Contest

The Applefest Quilt Auction is our biggest fundraiser each year.  Quilters from several of our local churches donate beautiful quilts, which are auctioned off to raise money for LRCC Camperships. 

If you would like to donate a quilt to this year’s auction, please send it to Yolijwa no later than September 30 with information on the quilter and any unique materials or techniques used.

There will also be a raffle for various prizes, including gifts from local stores in Oak Glen.  If you have an interesting item, tickets to a show, or another alluring prize that you would like to donate to the raffle, please contact us.  Also, if you wear your Yolijwa gear we’ll give you a free raffle ticket!

The Apple Dessert Contest is our newest fundraiser addition.  We encourage all bakers, candy makers, and other food artisans to enter their homemade apple deserts in this contest.  Bring enough for 100 people to have a sample-sized piece. 

Everyone will vote on the desserts by putting money in “tip jars” ~ and whoever’s dessert earns the most tips will win a prize!  Be sure to bring your dollar bills to cast your votes!

If you would like to bring a homemade apple dessert for the contest, please contact Yolijwa to be registered.

 

Activities for kids

  • Pumpkin Carving

  • We’ll provide the pumpkins and the tools – just bring your imagination!

  • Games

  • Carnival Games and traditional camp activities like Archery and Field Games.

  • Camp Songs

  • Wandering Minstrels and the fun Camp Worship give us a chance to sing our favorite songs!

  • Swimming

  • Bring your suit and enjoy our solar-heated pool! (if weather permits)

  • Camp Tour

  • See the in’s and out’s of a typical week of summer camp, as well as some Yolijwa history up at Luther Glen!

Want to come up Friday night?  Reserve a room at Luther Glen or a few bunks in a cabin for your family and friends!  Call Yolijwa today for reservations!

No reservations are needed to attend Applefest, but if you’d like to call and tell us you are coming, it will help us prepare for lunch.  Or if you want to show up on Saturday, see you then!
